Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University uses a performance evaluation mechanism based on RBRVS. The tool measures work through relative value coefficients based on resource consumption, taking into account the difficulty, risk, learning cost and operating time of each service item.

For the physician job family, workload schemes and assessments are designed separately for the surgical, non-surgical, outpatient, emergency and critical care specialty groups. Within departmental costs, controllable and uncontrollable costs are separated in detail, and the share of controllable costs included in the calculation is raised. Key indicator assessment breaks the relevant indicators of the China’s National Performance Assessment of Tertiary Public Hospitals down to the departments, and also takes in hospital quality indicators and patient satisfaction indicators.

In the national monitoring under the National Assessment, the hospital ranks among the leaders nationally and in the province, at grade A+. It is the only hospital in the Nantong area to have held a high grade for consecutive years and to have moved up to A+.
