Beijing Ditan Hospital, Capital Medical University

As the National Center for Infectious Diseases, Beijing Ditan Hospital, Capital Medical University has long faced challenges: an incomplete range of specialties, growing health insurance payment pressure and a lag in digital transformation.
Since setting up its operations center, the hospital has pursued reform on three fronts at once: mechanisms, measures and intelligent operations. It built an operations management system on OGSM-T and PDCA, and established hospital- and department-level operations meetings together with an MDT collaborative management mechanism. Its measures focus on sub-specialty development, optimization of emergency care processes, performance system reform (RBRVS + DRG) and process redesign in the endoscopy unit. With a big-data platform and an AI platform layer as its digital foundation, it established a five-stage closed-loop operations management model.
Since the reform, operating efficiency, specialty competitiveness and patient experience have improved, and the hospital has maintained grade A in the China’s National Performance Assessment of Tertiary Public Hospitals.
